MLB Power Rankings: The Top 10 Center Fielders in Baseball HistoryMLB Power Rankings: The Top 10 Center Fielders in Baseball History0 of 12Who is the best center fielder of all time? This is a question that may be tough to answer for many longtime baseball fans.So how does one go about ranking the best of the best to ever play the game? Sure, many people would first remember how a player did at the plate, but defense may even play a even bigger role when evaluating the many great center fielders we have ever seen over the last century. To no surprise, there are many batting champs and Gold Glove winners on this list, even one player in the top five that we have all seen play the game just last season. Who is the best though?Could it be one of “Willie, Mickey, and the Duke?” Regardless, who it may be, all these center fielders have forever shaped the way we look at the position today.Just like the John Fogerty song “Centerfield” says, “look at me, I can be Centerfield,” let’s take a look at the best center fielders of all time.Honorable Mention:…

The Top Ten Center Fielders of All-Time – Pitcher List
The Top Ten Center Fielders of All-Time Welcome to another edition of Top Ten! This week, we slide over from left to center and reveal our Top Ten Center Fielders of All-Time. If you’re interested in any of the other positions we’ve covered to date, you can find them and a lot of other great content in the archive. Below is some background on how we compiled the list if you are new to this segment. The Criteria Several types of WAR formed the core of the evaluation, including ratings from Baseball-Reference and Fangraphs, which calculate it differently. We rely heavily on WAR as it is difficult to compare players of different eras to each other, given how the game has changed over the years. WAR measures players versus their contemporaries, thus putting players on as level a playing field as possible. We always do our best to balance the rankings between longevity and dominance to…
Ranking the 9 greatest center fielders in MLB history – Audacy
Ranking the 9 greatest center fielders in MLB history When Carlos Beltrán retired after winning a World Series title with the Houston Astros in 2017, he was seen as a pretty likely Hall of Famer. A nine-time All-Star, Beltrán is right on par with the bWAR, WAR7 and JAWS of the average Hall of Fame center fielder. He won the 1999 American League Rookie of the Year Award as a member of the Kansas City Royals, and went on to win three Gold Glove Awards during his six-and-a-half seasons with the New York Mets. In between those two tenures, Beltran spent the second half of the 2004 season with the Astros, hitting .435 with eight home runs and 14 RBIs in one of the most dominant individual postseason runs in MLB history. On paper, Beltrán has a resume worthy of Cooperstown. However, he also had a resume that made the Mets think he would be a good MLB manager, only for them to fire him before he ever led the team for a game after the Astros’ 2017 sign-stealing scandal emerged. Will Beltrán be denied entry to the Hall of Fame for his role in one of the biggest…
Ranking MLB's all-time best center fielders – Yahoo! Sports
Ultimate center fielder rankings: Where does Mike Trout rank among the all-time greats?Welcome back to our ongoing series aimed at determining the best of the best at each position in Major League Baseball. Our goal here is two-fold. First, we determine each current franchise’s best ever player at a position. Then we rank those players 1-30 to determine how they stack up in MLB history. The only caveat being that the selected player must come from the current incarnation of each franchise. We recognize the Dodgers lineage tracing back to Brooklyn. However, we’ve separated the Washington Nationals from the Montreal Expos because of the complete rebrand. But don’t worry, we’ll throw in bonus players when warranted as well.To make things more interesting, we also require that no player represents multiple franchises or multiple positions throughout the series.Today, we’re ranking the center fielders. What a loaded position this is. Of the 30 players we officially ranked, nine are Hall of Famers. Then there’s the group of future and hopeful Hall of Famers led by Mike TroutGenerally, it’s difficult for active players to crack the top 10 just based on the equity former players with full careers have built. Especially guys with less…
